EP REVIEW: KayMad — PILOT

Buckle up,guys! we are going for a test flight and  Kaymad is our musical  pilot for today. KayMad is a Ghanaian hip-hop artiste with “ a cool as cello” kinda vibe. “PILOT” is the name of his EP which was released days ago. I had the opportunity to listen and here’s what I think about it.
KayMad’s whole a approach to music is sincere. He grooves smoothly between dope hip-hop beats and elegant computer generated jazzy rhythms. He beautifully glides from emotional to slightly hard-edged and back again. The songs are delivered in English, Twi and pidgin. The positioning of each track on the EP is cleverly done, and it makes the story telling graduate nicely.

1. Clout I
2. Wolves
3. Clout II
4. Wild
5. Climax
6. His Madnesty

“WOLVES” is an ode to his close friend who suffers from “wolf-in-sheep’s skin syndrome”. Nostalgic KayMad raps about the glorious relationship he had with him and spits vivid punchlines of how his friend betrayed him. His heartfelt lyrics are accompanied by a great hip-hop beat laced with computer generated jazzy rhythm. “ WILD” is the forth song on the album. I really love this song. “Dangote Sef Dey find monie” KayMad utters. “Never Slack brother!” He encourages his listeners and then launches into a semi-fiery delivery mode while spitting his well-written bars. The bass line on this track is solid, but it is mixed with sweet atmospheric melodies. “ Most of us dey strive for clout, if you no get am — you dey commit suicide” — this line is from CLOUT CLUB II — I really love that line. It’s a simple, but deep line.
This EP is an emotionally-driven piece, and it’s crystal clear.

Honestly, this is a good album and I recommend it for any hiphop lover out there. i
