ALBUM REVIEW: “WINGS BY SENA DAGADU AND WORLASI

When two musically talented chameleons forge an alliance to create an album, all we can expect is fireworks that will linger on our playlists and in our headphones for years.
Individually, Sena Dagadu   and Worlasi are musical heavyweights and creative titans in their own rights. They both have under their wings, impressive solo albums. “Wings” is the title of Sena Dagadu and Worlasi’s joint project. The title of the album really expresses the vibes they both created, effortlessly.

An amazing album from start to finish with unique sounds. The production and instrumentation is groundbreaking....as the album progresses, you get bombarded with genre-blending songs(fusions). The result is a free-spirited, groovy, and interesting album, infused with witty lyrics. This album is all about positive vibes, there’s no room for the negatives.
This album has the hip-hop vibe with dusty drums, druggy  melodic flows, groovy bass lines, afrobeat rhythms,  layered vocals, cosmic Neo-soul elements, low-key reggae derivative flows (dub) and dreamy loops accent.....although some beats seem generated, they are beautifully programmed and it flourishes as you begin to listen.
There are few truly lighthearted moments on the album, introducing us to their combined playful musical sensibility. (This albums makes me smile because I can relate to the messages the songs convey)
Their vocal delivery glides smoothly in a haze of genre-bending beats. Sena Dagadu delivers her witty punchlines in a laidback, yet powerful spirit: soothing but blessed with purpose, soft but commanding. Worlasi also weaves an intricate delivery technique that flourishes on the album.  The singing and spiting of rhymes on this album is dope and flawless. The songs are written in English, pidgin and ewe, giving it a Ghanaian and international appeal.

Every song on this album is lit. Trust me, there’s a song for everyone one. This album can easily be my favorite Ghanaian album for 2019.
